Diy: Tiny Planters From Upcycled Wine Corks

Linda from It All Started with Paint created these tiny planters from upcycled wine corks.

Here’s how:

Gather your materials: First, drink some wine (French one :)) and save the corks from the empty bottles. You’ll also need:

  • a glue gun,
  • magnets,
  • a steak knife,
  • and plants (we suggest succulents).

The mini planters shown in this tutorial contain succulents which are robust plants.

Remove the centers of the corks with the steak knife. This is pretty simple but require some patience ot make it nice. Put the tip of the knife in the center of the cork and turn-it in a circular motion. Make sure you don’t go all the way through and stop about ¾ of the way down.

Then, fix the magnets using the glue gun. Once plants are inserted in the cork, it will be much heavier, so depending on the strength of your magnet, you made need to affix more than one to handle the weight.

Use a 1/4 teaspoon to add soil into the center of the cork.

Pack down the dirt, plant your plants and drizzle the plants with water.

Stick them to a metal surface, wherever you want to add a touch of greenery!
