The story

The story

New York Botanical Garden
The story
It is actually located in the North Bronx, and therefore somewhat shunned by visitors as the place is poorly served by public transport. Still, it was created a long time ago, in 1890, and is now one of the largest and finest botanical gardens in the world. Besides, the best way to visit is to take the little train that cruises the aisles of flowers tirelessly and make you round the property.

The garden includes 27 points of interest, such as the Home Gardening Center with its beautiful tulips, and the Haupt Conservatory makes us discover beautiful tropical plants and its famous water lily pond and rare plants. The main greenhouse dating from the creation was renovated thanks to the generous donation ($ 5 million) from Enid A. Haupt, an American philanthropist. The park allows all kinds of activities, tours of course, but also lectures, exhibitions. A visitor center offers the possibility to lunch there and we can also picnic.

It is the world-renowned university library that sits in the middle of the park. It is dedicated to botany and has more than 550,000 volumes on the subject.
